How We Work

From Evaluation to Execution

Every project follows the same structured, documented sequence regardless of whether it originates with a private collector, an estate, or an insurance claim: consultation, in-person evaluation, written treatment proposal, and execution of approved work.

01

Consultation

Every project begins with a conversation. We discuss the object, the nature of the damage or concern, and the circumstances of the inquiry: whether it originates with a private collector, an estate, or an insurance claim. This initial contact helps us prepare for the evaluation and ensures we have the right context before examining the object.

02

Evaluation

We examine the object in person, ideally at your location, assessing its materials, construction, and the nature and extent of any damage or deterioration. We produce a written condition report describing the object's physical state in detail, with photography under normal and UV light where applicable, and a damage map identifying specific areas of concern.

03

Treatment Proposal

We prepare a written treatment proposal outlining the recommended course of action, the materials and methods to be used, and a line-item estimate of time and cost. When insurance is involved, the estimate is structured to meet the requirements of the carrier and adjuster. We explain the reasoning behind our recommendations and present options where the path involves trade-offs.

04

Execution of Work

No treatment begins without written approval from the client or, in insurance cases, from the relevant parties. Work is carried out using materials and methods consistent with current restoration standards. We document the treatment as it proceeds, photographing significant stages and noting any unexpected findings. A completion report is prepared at the conclusion of treatment.

Begin with an evaluation.
